BYOD Resource Centre Day Loan Program
As of Term 4 2020
Students from Years 7,8 and Senior Students will have the opportunity to borrow a BYOD support device from the daily loan program. This program is designed to allow students to borrow a device from the resource centre if they are experiencing issues with their BYOD Device e.g. Repair/Damage, Not charged, Forgot laptop etc.
Role statements for the BYOD resource centre day loans program are explained below.
Student Roles and Responsibilities
Students are able to collect a BYOD support device from the Resource Centre throughout the day (preferably before school and as early as possible in the school day). Students will not be denied access to borrowing a device from the resource centre during the school day.
Students are required to return the BYOD support device before the end of the school day.
Years 7-12 (Regular days): Return device at 2pm (bag to be left in the classroom).
Years 8-12 (Thursday Sport): Return device at 11am (bag to be left in the classroom).
Year 7 (p5/6 Sport): Return device during Lunch.
BYOD support devices are to be returned in good working order with no damage from the day's usage.
Students who borrow the device are responsible for any damage or loss that may occur.
To use the device in accordance with the schools Technology Policy and User Charter.
Teacher Role
To ensure that their students are accessing a device to support their learning.
To raise awareness of the daily laptop loans in the Resource Centre.
To escalate any BYOD concerns to the BYOD Coordinator as needed.
Resource Centre Role
To ensure that all laptops are charged and secure in the laptop cabinet.
To provide students in the BYOD program a laptop to loan for the day, ensuring the device has been loaned out correctly through the library system.
Identify all students who are borrowing a device to ensure it is assigned to them correctly in the library system. This can be a library card (Preferred option), via Sentral or another form of identification.
To inspect the laptops when they are returned to ensure that there is no damage, missing keys etc.
To provide the BYOD Coordinator with a list of BYOD support devices loaned out every two weeks, to allow the coordinator to follow up on students who are frequently borrowing laptops.
Create a ticket on ITHelp if there are any problems with the laptops.
To raise any issues related to the daily loans with the Technology Committee.
BYOD Coordinator Role
Follow up on students who regularly borrow a laptop from the Resource Centre.
Make contact/work with families to ensure that students have access to a BYOD device.
Escalate any welfare issues to the Senior Executive and/or HT Welfare as needed.
Technology Committee Role
To ensure there are enough laptops to support the program.
To make informed decisions on the BYOD daily loan program and work with parties involved to ensure transparency.
To ensure that laptops are up to date and have necessary applications installed.
To fix any laptops that are having problems.
Senior Executive
To raise issues with the Technology Committee as needed.
To work with the BYOD Coordinator and Technology Committee with any issues surrounding student welfare/access to a device.
To assist the Technology Committee with the rollout of the BYOD program across the school.
